But Jesus didn't swerve. "Peter, get out of my way. Satan, get lost. You have no idea how God works."
This is how God answered me: "Take back those words, and I'll take you back. Then you'll stand tall before me. Use words truly and well. Don't stoop to cheap whining. Then, but only then, you'll speak for me. Let your words change them. Don't change your words to suit them. I'll turn you into a steel wall, a thick steel wall, impregnable. They'll attack you but won't put a dent in you because I'm at your side, defending and delivering." God's Decree. "I'll deliver you from the grip of the wicked. I'll get you out of the clutch of the ruthless."
Come—let's build the wall of Jerusalem and not live with this disgrace any longer." I told them how God was supporting me and how the king was backing me up. They said, "We're with you. Let's get started." They rolled up their sleeves, ready for the good work.
God, your God, refused to listen to Balaam but turned the curse into a blessing—how God, your God, loves you!
Exodus 15:26 Joshua 5:1 Matthew 16:23 Jeremiah 15:19 Nehemiah 2:17 Deuteronomy 23:3
Christ’s victory in the past gives courage for the present and hope for the future.
