First Fruits

For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. ..Christ the first fruits, after that those who are Christ's at His coming.

In the exercise of His will He brought us forth by the word of truth, so that we would be a kind of first fruits among His creatures

And not only this, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our body.

But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy.

[It is] the hard-working farmer [who labors to produce] who must be the first partaker of the fruits. Think over these things I am saying [understand them and grasp their application], for the Lord will grant you full insight and understanding in everything.

Good deeds are no substitute for the Good News.
