Take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.
Don't shoot off your mouth, or speak before you think. Don't be too quick to tell God what you think he wants to hear. God's in charge, not you—the less you speak, the better.
God is all mercy and grace— not quick to anger, is rich in love.
Gracious speech is like clover honey— good taste to the soul, quick energy for the body.
In light of all this, here's what I want you to do. While I'm locked up here, a prisoner for the Master, I want you to get out there and walk—better yet, run!—on the road God called you to travel. I don't want any of you sitting around on your hands. I don't want anyone strolling off, down some path that goes nowhere. And mark that you do this with humility and discipline—not in fits and starts, but steadily, pouring yourselves out for each other in acts of love, alert at noticing differences and quick at mending fences.
Everything in the world is about to be wrapped up, so take nothing for granted. Stay wide-awake in prayer. Most of all, love each other as if your life depended on it. Love makes up for practically anything. Be quick to give a meal to the hungry, a bed to the homeless.
James 1:19 Ecclesiastes 5:2 Psalm 145:8 Proverbs 16:24 Ephesians 4:1 1 Peter 4:7
Helping someone in Jesus’ name is you most important work for the day.
