Delight

a WORD from God's Book
(photo: Maui)
________________________________________________________________________________
O Lord, please hear my prayer! Listen to the prayers of those of us who delight in honoring you.

The LORD your God will make you successful in everything you do… your fields will produce abundant harvests, for the LORD will delight in being good to you as he was to your ancestors.

The LORD your God will delight in you if you obey his voice and keep the commands and laws written in this Book of the Law, and if you turn to the LORD your God with all your heart and soul.

Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with scoffers. But they delight in doing everything the LORD wants; day and night they think about his law. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season without fail. Their leaves never wither, and in all they do, they prosper.

Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heart's desires.

Nehemiah 1:11 Deuteronomy 30:9 Deuteronomy 30:10 Psalm 1:1-3 Psalm 37:4

Arms

a WORD from God's Book
(photo: )
_______________________________________________________________________________
"I opened my arms to my own people all day long…

The eternal God is your refuge, and his everlasting arms are under you.

Praise the Lord; praise God our savior! For each day he carries us in his arms.

His arms are like round bars of gold, set with chrysolite. His body is like bright ivory, aglow with sapphires.

He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will carry the lambs in his arms, holding them close to his heart.

Then he took the children into his arms and placed his hands on their heads and blessed them.

Beauty

a WORD from God's Book
(photo: from deck at 368 Mission Hill Way)
_________________________________________________________________________________________
I'm asking GOD for one thing, only one thing: To live with him in his house my whole life long. I'll contemplate his beauty; I'll study at his feet.

My heart bursts its banks, spilling beauty and goodness. I pour it out in a poem to the king, shaping the river into words.

Honor and majesty surround him; strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.

Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
From Mount Zion, the perfection of beauty, God shines in glorious radiance.

Don't be concerned about the outward beauty that depends on fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. You should be known for the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.

Psalm 27:4 Psalm 45:1 Psalm 96:6 Psalm 29:2 Psalm 50:2 1 Peter 3:3,4

Walk

a WORD from God's Book
(photo: )
______________________________________________________________________________________
Show me the path where I should walk, O LORD; point out the right road for me to follow.

He grants a treasure of good sense to the godly. He is their shield, protecting those who walk with integrity.

Make me walk along the path of your commands, for that is where my happiness is found.

Happy are those who hear the joyful call to worship, for they will walk in the light of your presence, LORD.

And so I walk in the LORD's presence as I live here on earth!

Come … let us walk in the light of the LORD!

Proclaim

a WORD from God's Book
(Photo: Atlanta)
________________________________________________________________________

It is good to proclaim your unfailing love in the morning, your faithfulness in the evening

I will tell everyone about your righteousness. All day long I will proclaim your saving power, for I am overwhelmed by how much you have done for me.

"Look at my Servant, whom I have chosen. He is my Beloved, and I am very pleased with him. I will put my Spirit upon him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations.

In that day the people will proclaim, "This is our God. We trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the LORD, in whom we trusted. Let us rejoice in the salvation he brings!"

All who proclaim that Jesus is the Son of God have God living in them, and they live in God.

Produces

a WORD from God's Book
(photo: Manitowoc,WI)
__________________________________________________________________________________
A good person produces good words from a good heart

A tree is identified by the kind of fruit it produces… A good person produces good deeds from a good heart

For this light (Christ) within you produces only what is good and right and true.

It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.

"The seed cast on good earth is the person who hears and takes in the News, and then produces a harvest beyond his wildest dreams."

Warm

a WORD from God's Book
(photo: 368 Mission Hill Way)
______________________________________________________________________
you say, "Well, good-bye and God bless you; stay warm and eat well"--but then you don't give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do?

The people of the island were very kind to us. It was cold and rainy, so they built a fire on the shore to welcome us and warm us.

Warm me, your servant, with a smile; save me because you love me.

They said to each other, "Didn't our hearts feel strangely warm as he talked with us on the road and explained the Scriptures to us?"

Even if it was written in Scripture long ago, you can be sure it's written for us. God wants the combination of his steady, constant calling and warm, personal counsel in Scripture to come to characterize us, keeping us alert for whatever he will do next.

Snow

a WORD from God's Book
(photo: 1/19 Colorado Springs)
______________________________________________________________________________
"Have you visited the treasuries of the snow?

"He directs the snow to fall on the earth and tells the rain to pour down.

fire and hail, snow and storm, wind and weather that obey him,

"Come now, let us argue this out," says the LORD. "No matter how deep the stain of your sins, I can remove it. I can make you as clean as freshly fallen snow. Even if you are stained as red as crimson, I can make you as white as wool.

Purify me from my sins, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.

Faithful messengers are as refreshing as snow in the heat of summer. They revive the spirit

Wait

a WORD from God's Book
(photo: Los Alamitos)
________________________________________________________________________________________
Listen to my voice in the morning, LORD. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly.

Don't say, "I will get even for this wrong." Wait for the LORD to handle the matter.

Be still in the presence of the LORD, and wait patiently for him to act. Don't worry…

Wait patiently for the LORD. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the LORD.

[ Blessings for the LORD’s People ] But the LORD still waits for you to come to him so he can show you his love and compassion. For the LORD is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for him to help them.

Ask

a WORD from GOd's Book
(photo: Los Alamitos,CA)
_____________________________________________________________________________________
Ask the LORD for rain in the spring, and he will give it. It is the LORD who makes storm clouds that drop showers of rain so that every field becomes a lush pasture.

(Y)our Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him!

"I also tell you this: If two of you agree down here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you.

[ Effective Prayer ] "Keep on asking, and you will be given what you ask for. Keep on looking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened… If you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.

If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer."

_________________________________________________________________________________
Lead me in the right path, O LORD … Tell me clearly what to do, and show me which way to turn.

Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.

Send out your light and your truth; let them guide me. Let them lead me to your holy mountain, to the place where you live.

Those gates lead to the presence of the LORD, and the godly enter there.

Carry out my instructions; don't forsake them. Guard them, for they will lead you to a fulfilled life.

Trust

a WORD from God's Book
(photo: Maui)
____________________________________________________________________________________
Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O LORD, have never abandoned anyone who searches for you.

For the word of the LORD holds true, and everything he does is worthy of our trust.

You heard their cries for help and saved them. They put their trust in you and were never disappointed.

But I trust in your unfailing love.

But I am trusting you, O LORD, saying, "You are my God!"

The LORD is my strength, my shield from every danger. I trust in him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.

Calm

a WORD from God's Book
(photo: Eagle Lake, CA)
_____________________________________________________________________________
Hot tempers start fights; a calm, cool spirit keeps the peace.

"Only then will I calm down and let my anger cool. Then you'll know that I was serious about this all along, that I'm a jealous God and not to be trifled with.

Stay calm; mind your own business; do your own job. You've heard all this from us before, but a reminder never hurts.

And Jesus answered, "Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!" Then he stood up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly all was calm.

For the LORD your God has arrived to live among you. He is a mighty savior. He will rejoice over you with great gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will exult over you by singing a happy song."

Substance

a WORD from God's Book
(photo: Los Alamitos)
_________________________________________________________________________________
Don't fool around at those shrines of Bethel, Don't waste time taking trips to Gilgal, and don't bother going down to Beer-sheba. Gilgal is here today and gone tomorrow and Bethel is all show, no substance."

God wanted everyone, not just Jews, to know this rich and glorious secret inside and out, regardless of their background, regardless of their religious standing. The mystery in a nutshell is just this: Christ is in you, therefore you can look forward to sharing in God's glory. It's that simple. That is the substance of our Message.

All those things are mere shadows cast before what was to come; the substance is Christ.

I'm a long way off, true, and you may never lay eyes on me, but believe me, I'm on your side, right beside you. I am delighted to hear of the careful and orderly ways you conduct your affairs, and impressed with the solid substance of your faith in Christ.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Found

a WORD from God's Book
(photo: Sunrise at Avila Beach, CA)
___________________________________________________________________________
"I've (God) made myself available to those who haven't bothered to ask. I'm here, ready to be found by those who haven't bothered to look. I kept saying "I'm here, I'm right here' to a nation that ignored me.”

Seek GOD while he's here to be found, pray to him while he's close at hand.

"God's kingdom is like a treasure hidden in a field for years and then accidentally found by a trespasser. The finder is ecstatic--what a find!-and proceeds to sell everything he owns to raise money and buy that field.

"Suppose one of you had a hundred sheep and lost one. Wouldn't you leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the lost one until you found it?

No sooner had I left them than I found him, found my dear lost love. I threw my arms around him and held him tight, wouldn't let him go until I had him home again, safe at home beside the fire.

Image

a WORD from God's Book
(photo: Eagle Lake, CA)
________________________________________________________________________
To whom, then, can we compare God? What image might we find to resemble him?

Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before God made anything at all and is supreme over all creation.

And just as we have borne the image [of the man] of dust, so shall we and so let us also bear the image [of the Man] of heaven.

For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren;

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.

Justified

a WORD from God's Book
(photo: Colordo)
_____________________________________________________________________________
I tell you, this sinner, not the Pharisee, returned home justified before God. For the proud will be humbled, but the humble will be honored."

(F)or all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

Clearly no one is justified before God by the law, because, "The righteous will live by faith."

(S)ince we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ
